DIY Coconut & Honey Lip Scrub!

diy sugar lip scrub

This week I thought I’d do a little DIY post. I keep reading about lip scrubs and how they are a great treatment for your lips, they clear dead skin and flakiness from your lips, leaving them smooth and moisturised. There is, however, no way I will go out and pay £10+ for one! This DIY lip scrub contains only 3 ingredients, coconut oil, honey and brown sugar. The fact that you have made it yourself means that you know it contains no nasties, so if you happen to lick your lips (it tastes amazing!) you know it’s completely safe.

If possible make sure that you buy the raw, cold-pressed virgin coconut oil, not the odourless, flavourless type thats been refined. I got mine from a local wholefoods shop (Manuka Wholefoods). I brought quite a large jar as it’s really great for cooking and baking.

Ingredients:

– 1 tablespoon pure coconut oil

– 1 tablespoon honey

– 2 teaspoons brown sugar

Taa dah! You now have your very own homemade lip scrub! Pop this is a small jar and it will keep for up to 2 weeks if kept in your fridge. You may have to remove it form the fridge 10 minutes before you use it so that it can soften a little. Rub a small amount on your lips in small circular motions, rinse off with warm water, apply your favourite lip balm and you’ll be left with baby soft moisturised lips.

Are there any DIY beauty potions and lotions that you make?

I love the look of this. And coconuts the best. I bought a lush scrub ‘mint julips’ but I’d much rather make my own with my favourite scent in it!
